About Counter-Machiavellian Project

The core goal of Counter-Machiavellian Project is to assemble, distill, and teach the most effective white-hat strategies.

We primarily focus on fundamental refutation techniques for effectively attacking political lies, artful half-truths, smear tactics, and other dark arts of public influence.

There are also a few specialized areas that we are partial to:

• Countering political bias, indoctrination, and radicalization;
• Neutralizing authoritarian disinformation playbooks;
• Undermining inflammatory rhetoric and demagogic appeal tactics.

Services

Our services are heavily skewed towards teaching and training.

We do only limited consulting work, and we don’t engage in general political strategy consulting work. As a rule, our consulting work is usually concentrated on more challenging projects of neutralizing political smear campaigns as well as projects for countering authoritarian influence or demagogic campaign tactics.

Approach

We pull insights and usable strategies from a mix of fields, but we have no particular attachment to any of them. We use whatever proves most effective for neutralizing deceptive influence tactics.

Generally, we are fond of extracting practical tools from research in psychology and behavioral science (including social psychology of persuasion and influence, political psychology, social cognition, behavioral decision-making, consumer research, etc). We also draw on such disparate practical fields as marketing and advertising, trial and appellate legal advocacy, and the classical techniques of political persuasion and rhetoric.
